New Ramps Preview

When construction is complete in Fall 2010, three new ramps (red in the map) will significantly improve traffic flow from:

  • Telegraph Road North directly to Eisenhower Avenue
  • Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 South) to Telegraph Road North
  • Outer Loop directly to the Eisenhower Valley

These new ramps will provide previously unavailable direct access to Eisenhower Avenue from Telegraph Road North and the Outer Loop; will lessen the volume of traffic on Telegraph Road North and Pershing Avenue and improve safety by eliminating weaving traffic in this area; and will include a bike and pedestrian path for access from south of the Beltway.

The Impacts

This next construction phase requires the demolition of existing exit ramps in order to complete the new ones. Construction will temporarily impact traffic and alter the configuration to which drivers are currently accustomed. Advance information for local residents and commuters will help them adjust to the temporary changes. Motorists can expect increased transit times at rush hours during this temporary configuration.
