Beltway Inner Loop/Telegraph Road Overnight Ramp Closures Week of March 8 Print E-mail

Motorists Urged to Avoid Area and Choose Alternate Routes

As part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, weather permitting, ramps in the Telegraph Road interchange of the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway I-95/495 South will be closed from Monday night, Mar. 8 through Thursday night, Mar. 11 for roadway construction. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid expected delays. The scheduled work is as follows:

Monday, Mar. 8 through Thursday, Mar. 11 overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning:

  • Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) ramp to Telegraph Road South.
    • Detour: Use exit from the Inner Loop to Pershing Avenue to left on Stovall Street to left on Mill Road to Telegraph Road South.
  • Telegraph Road South on-ramp to the Inner Loop (I-95/495 South).
    • Detour: From southbound Telegraph Road, take the exit for Huntington Avenue West to U.S. Route 1 North to the on-ramp to the Inner Loop.

Friday, Mar. 12 overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning:

  • Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) ramps to Telegraph Road North and Pershing Avenue.
    • Detour: Use exit 174 to Eisenhower Avenue.
    • Note that this exit will reopen with a new configuration: The exit for Pershing Avenue/Telegraph Road North will be earlier than presently: the acceleration lane for traffic entering the Inner Loop local lanes from southbound U.S. Route 1 is extended, becoming the new exit lane. Motorists bound for Telegraph Road North will use the new exit ramp to Pershing Avenue, then bear left onto the old ramp to northbound Telegraph Road.

Please use caution when traveling in this area. All construction-related work and dates are subject to change, depending on weather, material and contractor availability or other unforeseen conditions.
